Inspired Poetry by Lori Powell

The Storm

A crack of thunder, a lightning strike.

Rain in torrents, through the night.

Spiked energy, heavy air,

Oppressive? Freeing? Here or there?

Flash then count, 1 Mississippi 2,

I’m not scared – tell me are you?

This magnificence is nature’s own,

A show unrivalled, a power zone.

Soon it’s over, fierce then calm,

Quiet now, a natural balm.
