Inspired Astrology July 2013

Inspired Astrology with Marsha Massino

We’ve all seen horoscope columns written in magazines and newspapers, but how much do you really know about astrology? Have you ever wondered just how astrologers make their predictions? Inspired World astrologer Marsha Massino explains, month by month, continuing this month with the basics, plus what is going on astrologically right now and how it might affect you.

Cancer New Moon, 8 July 2013 at 1:15 a.m. CDT and 7:15 a.m. GMT

The Moon, Sun, Mercury and Jupiter are all in Cancer on this New Moon! That’s a lot of concentrated energy, pulling on our hearts and making us feel like we want to be at home more than anywhere else. Call Mom for a home-cooked meal….

Cancer energy is nurturing and nesting. Comforting others by offering a home-cooked meal or a safe place to land are activities that fit perfectly with this New Moon. Think: Mother. Of course, males can be Cancers as well, and they can be supportive and homebody types just like women.

This would be a good time for surrounding yourself with good friends and family. It’s also a good time to enjoy the water, since Cancer is a Water sign and very much at home there.

Aquarius Full Moon, 22 July 2013, 12:16 pm CDT and 6:16 pm GMT

The Sun enters Leo (Fire) on July 22nd, and the Moon will be in Aquarius (Air).

Expect the unexpected with Aquarius. Dare to do something different on this day – be open to whatever comes your way. A good day to observe others – go to a public place and just people watch. Another way to make the best of this energy would be to volunteer at a homeless shelter or support a cause that is beneficial to society.

Aspects in July

Throughout the month of July there will be a Water Grand Trine, which is a connection between three planets. At this time it will involve Neptune (esthetics), Jupiter (expansion) and Saturn (structure). This energy will peak in mid-July. Those born with a Water Grand Trine in their natal horoscope have a tendency to isolate themselves emotionally from others.

How this Grand Trine will affect you depends on where these planets and signs are placed in your natal horoscope. However, you can bet emotions will be involved.

My advice to you whenever you are feeling swept away by emotions during this time is to seek solace in water. Go swimming, play in the water, sit by a lake, indulge in a sauna – whatever you can do to immerse yourself in water will help you deal with this energy.

How could a natal horoscope reading benefit you?

If you’ve ever read a newspaper, you probably are familiar with the horoscope readings that appear on a daily basis. I’m not a fan of those and here’s why: It is only relative to your Sun sign. You are so much more than just your Sun! Your Moon and Rising Sign are very telling, as are the other planets and how they are arranged in your chart. If we were only our Sun sign, the world would be a very dull place.

An interpretation of your natal horoscope will provide a more thorough understanding of how the energies have worked throughout your life, and why you have experienced struggles and triumphs.

It can also prepare you for major life transits that we all face – like a Saturn Return. The first Saturn Return (when Saturn returns to the spot it occupied on the day of your birth) happens at approximately age 28 – 30. This is the time when you may make the choice to become fully invested in adulthood (perhaps taking responsibility for a family, or take a path that leads to the development of a career) or you don’t. If you don’t, you may have a second opportunity at your second Saturn Return at approximately 58 – 60 years of age.

Fire and Air signs are positive and motivational – masculine; Water and Earth signs are passive and receptive – feminine.

The Fire signs are Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. The keyword for the Fire signs is “Inspiration.”

Aries is the Fire of personality (emotions and impulse.) Leo is the Fire of the heart or affections. Sagittarius is the Fire of wisdom.

The Air signs are Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. The keyword of the Air signs is “Aspiration.” Air signs are concerned with intellect and intuition.

Gemini represents the intellect; the gathering and dispersing of knowledge. Libra is judgment, often acquired through experience and hard times. Aquarius represents intuition.

The keyword for the Water signs is emotion. The Water signs are Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. Each of them is emotionally charged.

Cancer is a nurturing sign, associated with mother and family. Scorpio represents passionate emotions, often associated with intimacy. Pisces is sympathetic with tender emotions.

The Earth signs are concerned with the physical or material. The keyword for Earth signs is “Practicality.”

Taurus is patient and a builder of security. Virgo has patience for details, and is very analytical. Capricorn is concerned with responsibility, and has patience for the rewards of achievement.

On the Horizon

Gemini New Moon – 8 June 2013 @ 3:58 p.m. GMT, 10:58 a.m. CDT

This New Moon is packed with the energy of Gemini – and from the previous discussion, you will note that Gemini is a Mutable Air sign. Mars, Sun, Moon and Jupiter will all be in Gemini.

You may have extra energy to brainstorm on a new project, or at least iron out some details.

How about discussing a plan to remodel your home with a contractor? Or would you rather gather with friends for a philosophical debate?

The New Moon is the perfect time to set intentions for the month ahead.

Summer Solstice

The Summer Solstice takes place on 21 June 2013. This marks the advent of the Sun into the sign of Cancer, a Cardinal Water sign. After this, the longest day of the year, the period of daylight will shorten each day until the Winter Solstice in December.

Capricorn Full Moon – 23 June 2013,11:33 a.m. GMT, 6:33 a.m. CDT

Capricorn is ambitious, and with the Sun in the emotional sign of Cancer, might I suggest an extended family reunion? Late June is a great time to gather your relatives and catch up with each other.

You might also consider an all day picnic by the water, or perhaps a camping trip to somewhere new.

Be aware of your feelings, as well as the feelings of others, as there is a lot of emotional energy during this Full Moon with five planets in Water signs.
