Free Fall Therapy with Jessica Woods

Jessica Woods is a therapist and works with individuals to help them overcome a whole host of challenges. Jessica started counselling back in the 80s. which she thoroughly enjoyed. She then discovered neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), which she loved, and went on to work for years as an NLP Master Practioner. She has since developed her own therapy technique called Free Fall Therapy. Today Ali talks to Jessica about her work, what it involves, and how it helps people transform their lives.

Jessica, can you explain exactly how NLP works?

I know that it’s been quite controversial in the past with Richard Bandler as one of the founders but it’s a very interesting therapy, it works very much on individual sessions. There are particular techniques that are used very much through the senses. It’s a very very effective therapy. I’ve worked at that for many years and dealt with clients with all sorts of different issues and problems. Anything from hayfever to phobias to relationship problems and issues. Anything – and that’s what I loved about it. It’s very eclectic. So that was one of the first things that I really loved and enjoyed doing very much.

Can you just tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do?

I’ve always been very holistic, very much into the spiritual. As a young child I saw lots of spirits and ghosts. I  am very intuitive. So in later years, I decided to work doing intuitive readings for people as well, but very much more on the energy front, not using cards or anything as such, just tuning in to peoples’ energy systems. This is one of the ways that I developed the Free Fall as well, by actually reading the different energy fields that we have around us and using those intuitive readings to see that the most likely outcome or path that people are likely to take. So it’s not just giving readings and saying ‘this is gonna happen in that time,’ although each reading is very unique and that has been the case, some readings will be more looking at the person as a whole and the seeing what could help them to basically transform their lives. And that’s really what I’m about. Whatever I’ve worked in, that has been the role that I’ve taken – looking at peoples’ multi-dimensional being and assisting them on their journey of personal development and self-growth. The other element to add to that that I’ve also trained and studied as a life coach which complimented the NLP, bringing them all together.

Can you explain a bit more about what Free Fall Therapy involves?

I’ve worked with a number of people over many years and I developed Free Fall Therapy. A  lot of therapies work in different ways but what we tend to do is ignore what we’re really feeling – what we would class as the negative stuff if you like – the bits of us that we don’t want to face, the bits of us that get angry, the parts of us that don’t want to be seen as not good enough. Having worked with people for many years, what I realised was that focusing on the positive, being goal-orientated, in some ways implies that there are other things that we aren’t necessarily wanting to look at or to deal with within ourselves. These things keep happening in repeated patterns for example, perhaps someone who’s in an abusive relationship, mental or physical, and then they perhaps say ‘right, that’s it ,I’m never doing that again,’ when it’s over, and then finding themselves repeating the patterns. Being very interested in the mind, very interested in our inner self, our inner workings I came across Free Fall.

Free Fall is a self-healing process which enables us to access the hidden unconscious aspects of our inner self. So we can take the iceberg scenario, the top is our conscious mind and the unconscious is huge underneath. What is under there? What are we going to find? It really isn’t scary when you understand it, and that’s where the Free Fall comes in. It helps you to safely recall memory experiences that have previously been blocked from our conscious mind. It helps to work around whatever it is that we’re fearing. It enables us to recognise and release these fears, these emotional mental blocks, any underlying problems that prevent us from living a balanced, fulfilled and happy life.  This is what I naturally fell into and I feel it is so important to stop ourselves from creating these issues, blocking our happiness and joy – which is what we are really here for. We are here to be loving, happy, joyous beings.

The process itself is very simplistic. Anyone who’s having any issues, when they get to that point when they say enough is enough, then they’re in that position of being ready to free fall into this issue. And it isn’t such an easy process once you make that first step and you get to the edge where you say ‘right ok this is it, I’m gonna do this.’ And when you land on the bottom you think ‘wow, the exhilaration and the joy, and I’ve actually achieved this.’ And this is what people report when they experience this process.

What techniques do you use?

An individual session with a person is about 90 minutes but you can’t put time on it, , some people may need more coaxing. Free fall works in the same way as other therapies. I’ve worked with a range of people with a range of issues. I’ve had such amazing results with this. To work with any problem or repeated patterns, we talk a little bit around the issue. I don’t need full disclosure, but most people are quite willing to share and that obviously is part of the trust and process that we’re working with. Once we’ve established that, I will get the client to a particular point, a particular state where I know what we’re working on, where I know they are ready to take that first foot out of the aeroplane, ready to go to the next stage.

Once we do that there is a particular process. I’m not going to say too much of the process, I will give you a few examples, because it’s not beneficial to know too much beforehand, literally because everybody’s experience is so different. The whole point is we’re leaving the conscious mind behind and moving into our inner depths, our inner selves, where our inner self is totally and absolutely supporting us. It totally has us embraced, it has nothing to fear, it has us nurtured and supported on this inner journey. Therefore to say to someone ‘this might happen’ could bring in their conscious mind which could potentially affect the therapy itself. I find people go to a Source state, aware of their oneness, their source self, their ‘all that is’ and they will describe that to me and quite often the ones who were most reluctant to get in there are the ones who are the most reluctant to leave, because it’s such a beautiful state.

You mentioned hayfever before what other problems and issues do you deal with?

Well anything and everything. I had a young lad come to me with depression and he’d been like it for quite some time. I did a very quick session with him and at the end of it he just went out on cloud nine and he contacted me afterwards and said ‘I have to tell you, massive change after our session, I’m no longer depressed, I have come up with a plan for the year and it feels really good, but more than that I’ve got my intuition magic back. I lost it and that’s what affected me the most but now it’s back, I’ve got my power back and I feel really good. Thank You.’ That was his reply, I then actually saw him about 3 months later and he said ‘I had to tell you,’ looking bright, happy and wonderful, ‘I’m off to Australia, I’m doing this, I’m going there….’ etc. A complete contrast. Within this process some of the stuff that actually materialises is that people will have memory recall and this actually creates non-attachment so that you can see it as an observer. And this opens up new pathways.

I’ve dealt with relationships, asthma – a lady with asthma, after a session she ran 15 miles without using her inhaler, she couldn’t believe it. I’ve had amazing feedback from her. Money issues as well, it’s as if the money doesn’t become the issue anymore and the money starts to flow.

I do skype sessions as well. I’ve done that with someone in Canada and America.

Have you ever come across positive attributes that people suddenly discover after your therapy.

Yes and absolutely, sometimes the therapy will take people into past lives and perhaps into other dimensions. In all of those areas I’ve had people meet starbeings, other aspects of themselves in previous lives, lots of really good stuff in there which lets them locate why they actually had a problem in this life. The experiences in there can be anything, but the positive that comes out of it is the depth of the feelings.
