Astral Projection with Alison Wylie

A Powerful Exercise When Out-of-Body

We humans are always busy, we ‘do a lot of doing’ sometimes too much; for our own health and sanity we should slow down and have quiet times, just being with who we are. It is no different when practising astral projection/out-of-body experiences, there are many activities you can take part in but the most powerful thing you can do is nothing. Yes, absolutely nothing, not doing and not thinking, simply aware in the present moment.

There has been a lot of talk about the importance of the present moment, Jane Roberts channelled an entity called Seth, he stated:

                           “The present is the point of power.”

I decided to test this out in an out-of-body experience, I thought it would be interesting to see the result of focusing in the present when I was already in an altered state of consciousness.

One night I set my intention to do nothing when I left my body but simply to sit down and meditate on the present moment. This meant not having any thoughts, I knew I had to be ‘present in the present’, so to speak, to be aware with no distractions and certainly no mind chatter.

Sometimes it’s difficult enough actually getting out of body but then to remember what you intended to do once there, is doubly difficult; it’s so easy for the mind to start its endless chatter or get lost in the excitement of taking a break from the physical.

However, this particular time, it worked and as I got up out of my body I remembered what I wanted to do, so I sat down and started meditating, I started to focus on the present moment. It took a lot of effort and it wasn’t easy, I tried to empty my mind of thoughts and kept repeating ‘no thoughts, no thoughts’ but even that is thinking about something, it’s thinking about having no thoughts. It felt a little bit as if I were fighting a losing battle, the mind is so difficult at times to quieten. I didn’t give up though and made a real effort to empty my mind and focus in the present moment, my efforts paid off as I felt myself going through a tunnel, now the problem here becomes a different one, I had to remain calm and not get excited or even be afraid, after all I had no idea where I was going; any show of emotion, whether fear or excitement, would probably have cut short my adventure. I had no body by this time I just felt like consciousness, from here on it gets a little difficult to explain as putting into words what I experienced isn’t easy. Sometimes there are just no words for certain experiences.

As I exited the other end of the tunnel I was the universe, there was no individual identity, I was everything and everybody, there was no past or future, all was present and everything was fine. There was an incredible sense of peace and well-being, a sense of simply being, there was certainly no doing, no ‘busyness’……. simply being. My explanation lacks the enormity of feeling I felt, I say feeling but don’t I mean emotions, there was a profound quality about the experience, a deep wisdom.

The above type of experience requires a certain degree of control over the mind, so to develop this control I recommend practising mindfulness, being present in the present moment during the day will also be reflected in your dreams, astral projections and out-of-body experiences. Getting into the habit of maintaining moment by moment awareness is something that will certainly enhance the quality of your experiences.

So next time you are out-of-body instead of flying off through windows to explore, get further away from your physical body, sit down and meditate. I say get away from your physical body as it can act as a magnet and pull you back to it, so this would disturb the experience. Just as you would meditate during the day when you are awake, do the same when your physical body is asleep, if you meditate while out-of-body you are already at an advantage as you are already in an altered state of consciousness so why not take it further, the results are too incredible for words. It is a powerful exercise and you may just get to experience who you truly are.

Around the year 2000 I had my first out-of-body experience, it was the first of thousands, and the beginning of an incredible journey into self. Taking the inner path is not always easy and I had a lot of intense experiences confronting many parts of myself which I never imagined existed.

I have met people on the other side who have died full of regrets for not having lived fully while on Earth, for not having given all of themselves but instead getting lost in the drama and 'busyness' of physical life. I wish to help people balance their lives and really start to live, to live life consciously.   1. Alison I love your articles but do not know how to leave my body now – I did so involuntarily a few times shortly after my mother passed in 1977 but have been unable to repeat the experience. How do you suggest that I proceed please?

Well for me it worked by starting with my dreams, studying them and trying various lucid dreaming techniques, I think it was through doing this that I became more aware when I was asleep and then astral projection was the natural next step. I have a course available through my forum, no cost, it’s basically what I did that led to my first OBE. My website is in my bio, it is called Mind Body Spirit in Sync.
