Dealing with Fear in the Astral
An issue that comes up time and time again in astral projection is how to deal with fear, there are many things that can cause someone to be afraid when starting out. A degree of fear is there for our protection, it is part of human nature and can prevent us from harming ourselves. However, when fear stops us from doing something we desire it needs to be addressed.
For many people part of the process of having an out-of-body experience or of astral projecting means going through what is known as ‘the vibrational state’. During this state you may hear all kinds of noises, voices, bells and bangs, and your body may feel as if it is shaking, your heart may seem as if it is beating too fast and too loud, it can all get rather dramatic. It is important to remember that not everyone experiences these vibrations, in fact when I exit my body it is a very quiet affair, I usually feel as if I am full of electricity, it is rather pleasant. However, I did once request to experience the full vibrational state as I was curious to know what it was like. It felt as if there were a high-speed train running through my body, it wasn’t unpleasant, but I did know what was happening and the reasons behind what I was experiencing, if I hadn’t known I don’t know what I would have thought was happening to me, I can well understand how this state can bring on fear and panic.
Fear of the unknown is another reason we may be afraid to leave our bodies, we just don’t know what will happen to us, or who we will meet when we are out. However, in reality a part of us is already familiar with all things astral, it’s just that we don’t remember. What we think of as the unknown is already a known on another level so why be afraid?
Well there is always an element of surprise we can’t always plan what we are going to do in the astral down to the last detail and we can’t guarantee than we are not going to meet unsavoury astral beings; just as there are people you wouldn’t want to meet in our physical world the astral is no different. To avoid unpleasant encounters, it is best to keep a positive state of mind and focus in love and joy as like attracts like in the astral.
The problem is the fear, it sometimes hits us before we’ve even had time to think clearly, the fear kicks in and so we attract things that make us afraid. So, what do you do if you find yourself in a situation that seems to be escalating beyond control? Well it is so important that you force yourself to remain calm, think of something happy, always have an event ready that you can reference if you find yourself in such a situation. I always use the summer holidays when I was a child, my joy reference point is how I felt playing in the garden. Once you get yourself focused in that joy remain in it, basically you are changing your vibration and as the astral reacts to your vibration the negativity will disappear. You can also visualise a white protective light around you, this helps too.
Another way to deal with fear is to detach from it, recognise it as an emotion, and observe it, don’t identify with it. Moving into ‘observer mode’ can help with dealing with the vibrations too, you can practice this skill during the day in stressful situations, don’t allow yourself to become part of the drama but simply watch what’s happening and learn from it. The more you practice this skill the better at it you will become in the physical and in the astral.
Not everyone has scary experiences in the astral but it is good to be prepared just in case, I’ve had quite a few, for a period of my life I was doing a lot of retrievals, this is when someone who has died needs help moving on, people sometimes remain blocked in their own dramas when they die. Astral projectors can help them go beyond all the drama and reach a higher dimension where guides can give them what they need. It is easier for someone who is still alive on the Earth to reach these troubled people as we have a lower vibration because we have a physical body, we are more familiar to the person. The atmosphere in these places is very heavy and you need to be able to shut off emotionally and remain objective, giving in to fear won’t help anyone. These experiences have been incredible learning opportunities, even though very difficult, I have to say that my more negative, intense experiences have helped me grow much more than the pleasant, joyful ones.
I wish I could say that I now leave my body without an essence of fear in sight, I don’t but I know how to deal with it if it arises. I’ll leave you with this quote by Mark Twain.
“Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.”
Around the year 2000 I had my first out-of-body experience, it was the first of thousands, and the beginning of an incredible journey into self. Taking the inner path is not always easy and I had a lot of intense experiences confronting many parts of myself which I never imagined existed.
Through my out-of-body experiences I have experienced how we are so much more than we could ever conceive with our human brains. I have understood on a very deep level how everything and everyone is connected and now I wish to help people connect to who they truly are.
I have met people on the other side who have died full of regrets for not having lived fully while on Earth, for not having given all of themselves but instead getting lost in the drama and 'busyness' of physical life. I wish to help people balance their lives and really start to live, to live life consciously. I am a podcaster and run three podcasts, the Astral Projection Podcast, the Connecting the Bits Podcast plus an Italian podcast named Mente Corpo Spirito such is my desire to reach the world with my message.
I am an Author, Teacher, Astral Projection Coach, Reiki Practioner Level 2 and Spiritual Advisor helping people to become their own hero and live life consciously.
