Inspired Artist – Stephanie Hymas

When & how did you get started as an artist?

I am self taught and actually started drawing in the early 90’s as a way to pass the time as i spent many an hour on my own, back then it was just doodling and playing around, but a more serious approach emerged in 2000 and it grew from there.

What mediums do you work in?

I used to do a lot of portraiture work with pencil and mixed media but now my creativity calls for more digital work. I use Photoshop in order to do this.

What drives you to create your art?

There are all sorts of things that drive me to create however i would say that i have an emotional and spiritual voice that needs to be expressed.

Can you tell us a little bit about your process when creating art?

My process is simply to find stillness and a meditative space for emotion and information that is calling to come through and out onto the screen. I really don’t push the creative process, it truly happens when it happens. It’s a flow, hence why I’ve named my digital work ‘Free Flow Energy Infused Art’…it has a life and energy of it’s own.

How important do you think it is to express yourself in this way? What are the benefits?

Expressing myself in this way is part of the flow of being me, i dance, write and practice the healing arts as well so creating artwork is just a part of that flow. It completes me.

Where can we see more of your work?

I have a website: www.simplesoulfulart.com there is a link to my shop on there. You can also find my shop with canvases and framed prints of my work
